Occupational transmission and prevention of HBV among health care workers in a tertiary care center

چکیده

Result 85 samples from health care workers who had needle stick injury were processed .The samples were from doctors (38%), nurses (20%), technicians (7%), housekeeping staff (23 %), and students (10%). All the samples of injured persons were found seronegative by both methods, anti-HBs titer was found to be protective. Conclusion Strict HBV vaccination program and monitoring the anti-HBs titer were effective in prevention of HBV transmission by needle stick injury to health care workers of SRU. This can be implemented in all health care organizations for the benefit of health care providers.
